Terms & Conditions
1. What Soul Portrait Is
Soul Portrait (YourSoulPortrait.art) is a commissioned art platform and a brand of VLH Limited. We connect individuals with independent artists through a psychological matching process. Visitors take a private test; an anonymised soul profile is generated from their responses and shared with a curated pool of artists. If an artist is inspired, they reach out. If the visitor approves, the artist creates a unique piece for them.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Soul Portrait. By providing your email address, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Invite System
Access to the platform is by invitation only. Invite codes are single-use and non-transferable. Each code may be redeemed once, by the person for whom it was intended. Attempting to share, sell, or circumvent the invite system is not permitted.
4. The Commission Process
An artist match is not guaranteed. We share your anonymous soul profile with a small group of artists; if one feels genuinely inspired, they let us know. Sometimes you'll be introduced to a single artist, sometimes to two or three, when we think you'd benefit from options. There's no fixed timeline for a match to happen; if no artist responds right away, your profile simply stays under consideration until one does.
If you decide not to proceed with an introduction, that decision is final for that particular match, we won't automatically keep looking on the same profile. If you'd like to proceed, you have 7 days to commit before the introduction lapses. Once you commit and your payment is secured, we confirm the commission to the artist and work begins.
Commissions are hand-made; originals typically take around four weeks, and if an artist needs longer, we'll let you know. In keeping with the surprise being part of the experience, nothing about the finished piece, no preview, no description, no photo, is shared with you before it physically arrives.
5. Payments
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. YourSoulPortrait.art does not store, handle, or have access to your card details at any point. By proceeding with a payment you agree to Stripe's terms of service in addition to these terms. Your payment, including our service fee and shipping, is held in escrow and only released to the artist once your delivery is confirmed.
6. Refund Policy
Refunds follow the specific outcome of your commission:
- If an artist is unable to complete your commission, you receive a full refund.
- If your piece is lost or damaged in transit, it's covered by shipping insurance, we'll arrange a replacement or refund.
- If the delivered piece is objectively different from what the artist described when you approved the match, materially the wrong size, technique, or unlike the portfolio you were shown, we'll have the artist create a corrected piece in line with the original description, at no additional cost to you.
The artistic outcome itself, style, mood, composition, is left entirely to the artist's interpretation and is part of the experience you're commissioning; personal taste on its own is not grounds for a refund. For anything not covered above, contact us at contact@yoursoulportrait.art and we will do our best to find a fair resolution.
7. Artwork Ownership
Upon delivery, the physical piece belongs to you. You're free to keep it, display it, photograph it for personal use, and resell it. The artist retains copyright in the work itself, including the right to reproduce it or feature it in their own portfolio, credited as a commission made for Soul Portrait. We ask that you don't commercially reproduce or merchandise the piece without the artist's consent, just as the artist won't reproduce or resell a copy of your specific piece to anyone else.
8. Intellectual Property
The Soul Portrait name, brand, platform, and all associated content are owned by VLH Limited. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our prior written permission. (For intellectual property in the artwork itself, see the Artwork Ownership section above.)
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the platform, submit false or misleading information, attempt to circumvent the invite system, or engage in any activity that could damage or disrupt the service. We reserve the right to refuse access to anyone who violates these terms. You also agree not to solicit or arrange a direct, off-platform commission with an artist we've introduced you to, for five years from that introduction, this is part of what keeps the platform sustainable for the artists who rely on it.
10. Limitation of Liability
Our liability in connection with any commission or use of the platform is limited to the amount you paid for that commission. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the service after changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
